Earlier this year, it felt like everything changed. Due to the global pandemic, simple things we took for granted, like going to the grocery store or joining in worship at church, were suddenly turned upside down. Now, as we have entered into the season of Advent, we are celebrating the greatest change the world has ever encountered. For Christians, Advent is a season of waiting. We realize that Christ’s birth is the change that the world was waiting for.
Each year our church family at NorthPark gives an offering to help share the Good News of the greatest world changer, Jesus Christ. Our Christ Birthday Offering has deep roots in the Church of God. The Observance, which began in 1949, continues to be one way that Church of God congregations come together for the benefit of the kingdom.
The Christ’s Birthday Observance Offering is collected the Sunday before Christmas as a gift to the Christ child. The money collected touches nearly every ministry in the Church of God.
Through our Global Ministries we support missionaries through direct giving, clothing, linens, and home appliances. We fund mission projects that provide buildings, health services, transportation, and community development and projects that fight injustices like human trafficking, poverty, and hunger. Our giving provides the opportunity to spread God’s Word through Christians Broadcasting Hope which is presented in ten languages.
This offering supports Domestic Ministries in the United States including scholarships for women in college and graduate programs, minister’s aid to widows of pastors, local feeding programs and food pantries, ministries on American Indian reservations, educational programs, Hope Hill Youth Services which works with abused children and their families.
Hunger and relief support is given to help rebuild after natural disasters, provide food and farming systems to the hungry, and to assist in community development. Reconciliation ministries include those partnerships and programs that advance restoration of relationships and unity.
You will have the opportunity to give to The Christ Birthday Observance Offering, Sunday, December 20th. We will bring our gifts to the Christ Child and lay them in a manger during our worship service. We invite families to include their children in this gift giving. Special envelopes for children and for adults can be picked up at the Welcome Desk in the church lobby.
If you give online, please designate the mount of your gift for The Christ Birthday Offering.
Christmas Blessings to all of you. Joy to the World, the Lord has come!!
